During you appointment CASH will complete an IRS intake form and review/scan your tax documents. All tax preparation happens remotely after intake is complete. To learn more about the process please visit our tax resource page or check out this video.
File Taxes On Your Own
You can file your own taxes with some help from CASH! Check out our new page dedicated to tax filing tools and “how to” videos that can help you through the process. Many of these tools are free, but some charge a small fee and have income restrictions. All of these tools will allow you to file your own state and federal taxes. We even have links to. You may be eligible to get your Child Tax Credit in monthly payments! There have been important changes to the Child Tax Credit that will help many families receive part of their credit between July to December 2021, instead of having to wait until next tax season. The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021 expands the Child Tax Credit (CTC) for tax year 2021 only. This expanded tax credit is based on income and age of the child: you could receive up to $300 per month per child under age 6 and up to $250 per month per child ages 6 to 17.
Maryland General Assembly passes major tax changes!
The RELIEF Act includes direct payments for low to moderate income Maryland taxpayers who claimed and received the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) on their 2019 Maryland State Tax Return. Learn more and see if you qualify by clicking here for more information. A bill also passed to allow immigrant taxpayers using an ITIN to access the EITC. The Comptroller’s Office set up dedicated page to help taxpayers to navigate the various changes. Please hold off filing your tax return is possible, these returns cannot be e-filed.

The CASH Campaign of Maryland (Creating Assets, Savings and Hope) is a newly formed nonprofit organization that is the result of a recent merger between the CASH Campaigns of Baltimore and Maryland. As long time partners and allies, these programs joined forces to create one unified organization in July 2017.
The CASH Campaign of Maryland promotes economic advancement for low-to-moderate income individuals and families in Baltimore and across Maryland. CASH accomplishes its mission through operating a portfolio of direct service programs, building organizational and field capacity, and leading policy and advocacy initiatives to strengthen family economic stability.
