Program Associate, Volunteer Engagement

The Program Associate for Volunteer Engagement is responsible for the successful recruitment, retention, and management of skilled volunteers to support a variety of CASH’s core programs and events. The Program Associate will recruit and manage tax volunteers, lead the internship programs with universities, and coordinate 40-50 tax trainings for temporary tax staff, partners, and volunteers. The Program Associate will also support the volunteer recruitment and management for a variety of events that CASH leads annually such as Money Power Day®. This position reports to the Director of Tax Operations but works with various CASH program staff on event and volunteer needs.  Much of this work is focused in the Baltimore area, but CASH is a statewide nonprofit with partners across the state that it supports. Community Fellows

The Maryland Community Fellows program (MCFP)  is a unique paid fellowship opportunity for ambitious and mission-driven students. Fellows are trained in federal and state tax law and placed at Community Action Agencies (CAAs) to provide free tax preparation services to low-to-moderate income Marylanders. Community Action Agencies were established in 1964 to fight poverty and promote self-sufficiency in low-income communities by providing a range of programs and supports to community members, including the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, which has operated for over 50 years.  For more information click here.

Tax Site Manager – Temporary Contract Position – up to 40 hours/week December 2023 – April 2024

This is an exciting, rewarding, and challenging position that interacts with many clients and dedicated volunteers while developing tax skills. The Site Manager leads or supports a lead Site Managers run a tax site that prepares free returns for working families.  The Site Manager is ultimately responsible for maintaining the quality procedures and processes required by the IRS and CASH to ensure the accuracy and proper filing of tax returns at the tax site. Program Associate, Benefits Case Manager

The Benefits Case Manager supports the implementation of CASH’s benefits access program. Working one-on-one with individuals the Benefits Case Manager connects people to a variety of public benefits programs such as food, energy assistance, and other helpful programs. This work is done on site at well-established community and city agency partner locations. Online case management tools called EarnBenefits Online (EBO), and MDThink are used to help screen and enroll people in various benefit programs. The Benefits Case Manager will also help with community outreach and attend various events. The salary range is $40,000 – $45,000 commensurate with experience and includes a generous benefits package of full health coverage, parking, short- and long-term disability, employer retirement match, paid vacation, and more!
